From “more”
to “my favorite.”

AAC stands for augmentative and alternative communication. It gives people another way to express themselves alongside, or instead of, speech.

Bean starts with recognizable pictures for food, play, feelings, people, animals, and daily routines. A parent or caregiver can make the vocabulary personal as new moments come along.

For the grown-ups

A few good
questions.

Is Bean available yet?

Bean is in preparation for its first App Store release. It is coming to iPad and iPhone running iOS 26 or later. This page will link to the App Store when it becomes available.

Is there a subscription?

Bean is planned as a one-time paid download, with no subscription or in-app purchases. The launch price will appear in your local App Store.

Can I use my own voice?

Yes. Record words individually in Settings → My Recordings. You can pause and return later. Bean trims extra quiet time, and unrecorded words use the selected system voice. This records individual clips; it does not clone your voice.

Can I add photos and new words?

Yes. Add a tile, choose a photo, and crop it to a square. Place it in a preset category or a custom group. Your new words also appear in the voice recording flow.

Does Bean need an internet connection?

The board, included illustrations, and saved photos and voice recordings work offline. Downloading the app, additional system voices, or a photo stored only in iCloud may require an internet connection. Support links open a website.

How do I know if Bean suits my child?

Communication needs vary. Bean offers a simple picture board for early communicators. A speech-language professional can help you choose vocabulary and decide whether Bean’s features fit your child. Bean does not assess or treat speech or language conditions.
